ALLAN BLOODLINES GETS ONE AT KEENELAND

Tricky trading but a good fifth mare for Good Breeding

4th Nov 2008

In trading that required a different kind of vigilance and study to the norm, ALLAN BLOODLINES purchased Hip. No. 602 towards the end of Book 1 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington Kentucky.

CROSS YOUR FINGERS is a 3 year old WOODMAN mare in foal to ARCH. She is a full sister to GAY GALLANTA from the immediate family of a long list of stallions such as A.P.INDY, DUKE OF MARMALADE,STATUE OF LIBERTY, FOXHOUND and BYRON. Top fillies also abound in this exciting family which is that of a potential foundation mare.

A final bid of US$400,000 on behalf of a British personal investment fund "Good Breeding" saw off French under-bidders as well as earlier efforts from a newly purchased Irish-owned farm in Kentucky.

With around half of those catalogued either withdrawn or given impossibly high reserve prices in these uncertain moments, and with modest quality overall, selection and assessment of price was especially difficult.

As elsewhere, there was plenty of money for the choicest offerings.
