GREAT RUN FROM HINTLESHAM NATIONAL HUNT'S FIRST

Grandage looks a chaser in the making and hurdles well on debut

19th Nov 2008

5 year old bumper horse GRANDAGE was sent hurdling at Warwick today, very well prepared by trainer Oliver Sherwood and his team. The handsome bay finished a most encouraging 4th of 18 in a competitive 2 mile Novice Hurdle.

Jumping well and looking as if it is only a matter of time before he suits fences, GRANDAGE steered an untroubled path for most of the way around before meeting a bit of a crowd and hanging off the sharp bottom bend. Recovering well in the straight, he and rider Dominic Elsworth soon made it clear that he would not tire and fade. They took the closing obstacles perfectly and, with neck stuck out, ran to the line, overhauling the fancied Alan King French flat horse on the run-in.

There is great fun to come for HINTLESHAM NATIONAL HUNT members, judging by this excellent debut.
