MEN OF REGAL BEARING WIN FOR THE FIRST TIME

Mondane wins well at Durbanville

6th Feb 2009

3 year old Fanatic Dane gelding MONDANE registered his first win this evening at Durbanville and gave the MEN OF REGAL BEARING Syndicate, convened and managed by Allan Bloodlines, their maiden victory as well.

Always showing promise at home but being a type to take a bit of time, this striking chestnut ran a proper race last time and followed up in style.

Looking stunning in the paddock, MONDANE had the benefit of Richard Fourie in the plate and went down to try to keep up the excellent run of trainer Vaughan Marshall. The pair sat midfield as the field set off at a quickish pace, perhaps typical of the sharp Durbanville layout. Coming with a run down the middle, MONDANE struck the front but was challenged strongly. Repelling boarders, he went away to win by three quarters of a length what seems to be quite a nice race.

"Mr Marshall, he'd go round again and win that as well" said Richard Fourie, duly impressed.

The horse - bred by Ken Truter and David Hepburn Brown - was purchased by Allan Bloodlines at the Equimark Ready To Run Sale 12 months ago. His co-owners with David Allan are Patrick Wynn Jones, Harry Parkes, James Given, Chris Silverwood and Peter Chapple-Hyam. Well done all and here's - perhaps - to improvement over longer than this 2000 metres trip.
