THE HOLY LOCH WINS SMARTLY

First Allan 2 year old runner of the SA season wins on debut

15th Feb 2009

The great run for Allan Bloodlines racehorses in South Africa continued today when first time out 2 year old THE HOLY LOCH (Lake Coniston - Sacred Sea) won an eighteen runner 1,000 metre maiden at Kenilworth by a length and a half, hands and heels.

Sent out by Vaughan Marshall with half an eye on a valuable race next month, the chestnut colt impressed top rider Karl Nesius greatly on the way to the start. Showing tremendous speed early, THE HOLY LOCH cruised to second behind the well-backed favourite. Changing up to another gear, he then took Karl to the front and won comfortably with no special urging required.

Purchased by Allan Bloodlines for ZAR 180,000 at the Equimark Vintage yearling Sales in March last year, this seemingly smart colt will be aimed at the Equimark Sales Race on 7th March. Owned by David Allan in partnership with Chris Newman, THE HOLY LOCH took Allan's statistics over several years in South Africa to 71.5% winners to selections and 96% placed.
