FIRST FOAL OF THE 2009 SOUTH AFRICA BREEDING SEASON

And first foal for a beautifully bred winning mare

13th Aug 2009

RANDOM CALL, a winning War Chant filly and well related in the Argentinian "L" family, produced last night her first foal and the first foal for the Allan Broodmare band in South Africa 2009. Mid August is an early foaling date Southern Hemisphere and there are nearly a dozen to come. The mare is resident at David and Sandy Hepburn Brown's Hemel n Aarde Stud, an hour and a half from Cape Town and near the whle watching capital Hermanus.

The foal is a bay colt by top Klawervlei Stud stallion CAPTAIN AL, record breaking sire of 2 year olds and near the top of the overall tables. RANDOM CALL is a daughter of a Gr.1 winner who herself is sister to another.

Allan Bloodlines bought her at Tattersalls from the late Sheikh Maktoum al Maktoum's Gainsborough Stud (John Troy agent) after she had won in England. She placed twice in Cape Town but soon went off for her intended purpose at stud. RANDOM CALL visits JAY PEG, also at Klawervlei, in the first season of this champion. A multiple Gr.1 winner in South Africa, JAY PEG also won the DUBAI DUTY FREE Gr.1 on World Cup night and the SINGAPORE AIRLINES INTERNATIONAL CUP Gr.1 in Singapore.
