IMPERIAL FOX WINS ON QUEEN'S PLATE DAY

Three wins or places for owner Ralphs with Marshall/Allan purchases

9th Jan 2010

IMPERIAL FOX  (by Klawervlei's National Emblem) flashed in at Kenilworth this evening to win the greys and roans only 1400 metres handicap run on "Queen's Plate Day".  Special congratulations to owners Lindsay Ralphs and partners who have been immensely supportive to trainer Vaughan Marshall over the years.  Not only did they have this winner, but other Marshall/ Allan purchases GOLDEN IVORY (by Sandown's Goldkeeper), a Group winner in his prime, finished 4th in the same race and the excellent multiple winner and placer GENIUS MY KING (by Klawervlei's excellent CAPTAIN AL who himself was trained by Marshall) was 2nd in an earlier heat.

IMPERIAL FOX was bred by Beth and John Brandtner's Nutfield Stud and selected for purchase for R 300,000 at the National Yearling Sales 2007 by David Allan and trainer Vaughan Marshall.  The grey won at 2 and was the object of big offers from Hong Kong, only thwarted by difficulties in arranging transport at that time.

Thereafter, he has placed a number of times and with Craig du Plooy having started to ride him recently, he has finished 2nd and now 1st on a big day.

MOTHER RUSSIA in new ownership won the Gr.1 TBA Paddock Stakes and the magnificent POCKET POWER yet again took the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate (Gr.1) defeating KAPIL and BIG CITY LIFE.
