HORSES FOR 2009

GRANDAGE (GB)

5 year old bay gelding
by COURTEOUS ex CASTING VOTE
by MONTEVERDI

with OLIVER SHERWOOD in Lambourn, Berkshire

Big, strong and handsome horse who has placed in educational bumpers and schooled well.

A son of a winning hurdler who has already bred a winning hurdler, and closely related to Derby Winner NEW APPROACH, GRANDAGE is by a 10 and 12 furlong Group 2 winning Group 1 placed son of GENEROUS out a full sister to DARSHAAN, a member of one of H.H. The Aga Khan’s strongest families which includes good jumpers.

GRANDAGE is a magnificent looking horse who fills the eye in every respect. His trainer is very keen to get on with his hurdling career.

CORTESIA (IRE)

5 year old chestnut mare
by COURTEOUS out of CECINA
by WELSH SAINT

with RICHARD PHILLIPS near Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire

A winner over hurdles and on the flat, this attractive mare benefits from her sire’s influence and from being half sister to the good hurdler WHAT’S THE VERDICT.

A winner at Newbury at 3, CORTESIA ran well in the Cheshire Oaks on unsuitably fast ground then took well to hurdling, winning her maiden at Bangor on Dee.

A summer at grass at Fawley House Stud near Lambourn has given her the break that the pretty and proven CORTESIA needed and she is working with a will on her return to training.

The team at Adlestrop Stables welcome her back as warmly as they welcome her connections.

ROUTEMASTER (GB)

4 year old bay gelding
by LAKE CONISTON out of CITRINE
by SELKIRK

with RICHARD PHILLIPS near Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire

The credentials are all there with this fellow, including a name that correctly reflects the fact that he is large in all the right places.

Out of a mare who won twice over 2 miles on the flat and is herself half sister to a Richard Phillips trained winning hurdler, ROUTEMASTER is a big, old-fashioned sort with great bone, overall size and presence. He always impresses with his balance and way of going.

Due to enter the real world of full training soon, ROUTEMASTER is just the right sort to be a potential bumper horse for 08/09 with visions of a steeplechasing career in the fullness of time.
