Durbanville tussle sees 2/1 favourite just holding off the 100/1 shot

A nice 1 -2 for owners Messrs Ralphs and Koff, strong supporters of the Vaughan Marshall stable in Cape Town, when ALPHA LADY just beat JUSTANOTHERDAY at Durbanville this afternoon.

Both 3 year old fillies were purchased in the Marshall/Allan team haul at the 2010 National Yearling Sales in Johannesburg, ALPHA LADY being a R 200,000 daughter of CAPTAIN AL out of a half sister to the dam of international Gr.1 winner JAY PEG, and the runner-up costing R 360,000.  She is by DAYLAMI out of a Listed winning half sister to top class UK sprinter THE TATLING.  Both have nice broodmare potential so it is hoped that they go on from here.

Jockeys M J Byleveld and Craig Du Plooy had a serious tussle, the former on the 2/1 favourite and the latter on the nearly successful 100/1 shot!
