Seven Veils wins at Kenilworth for Straight Bat Racing

A great way to start 2010 !!  4 year old filly SEVEN VEILS won a 1200m sprint by a clear 2½ lengths at Kenilworth this afternoon in the colours of the Allan Bloodlines racing club STRAIGHT BAT RACING.  Trained by Vaughan Marshall and ridden by Marco Latorre, the daughter of Rich Man’s Gold returned to form in her first outing in Cape Town.

Purchased by Allan Bloodlines at the National Yearling Sales for R 200,000 from top breeder Wilgerbosdrift, SEVEN VEILS had won at 3 in training with Alistair Gordon in Durban.  But after several months of subsequent lung infections or allergies and a long break at Balmoral Stud in the KwaZuluNatal Midlands, Alistair himself suggested a change and the filly was transferred to Allan’s main Cape Town base with Vaughan Marshall.

Two wins and two places from eight starts is a fair record, but her return to form in this fillies’ handicap may now lead to runs in Stakes races in Cape Town and/or Port Elizabeth.
