Named KEEP SHINING from his dam, CAROLINA MOON (Cadeaux Genereux) today’s grey winner is a very late foal.   Bred by AllanBlooodlines within the Alado Project, the colt is the first runner/winner by ALBION and who is Albion is the question in South Africa?

ALBION is a triple-winning French Grade 2 placed (and did not quite stay in the French Derby) half brother to ALADO – therefore a member of one of the world’s great families boasting 92 Stakes Winners and counting. He is by the lovely CARO horse WITH APPROVAL and was sold into South Africa (from his super breeder, by Allan Bloodlines) with a plan to become a stallion managed by us and standing at Hemel ‘n Aarde, with the advantage of starting him instead of picking up the pieces as we did with ALADO all those years ago.  Experience with ALADO would have been most useful.

Soon the buyer/owner developed other ideas and the horse suffered mishaps in training, was briefly stood for a few mares at Hemel ‘n Aarde and has been taken beyond our reach. We sent a mare! There are few Cadeaux mares around these days, much prized though perhaps not in South Africa,  and this one is the dam of several winners including some black type.

We sent the late foal into training only quite recently in another cooperative effort with Vaughan Marshall and are delighted to see him win. In those training hands, he will surely be aimed at “a proper trip” of 2200/2400 meters as he reaches maturity.

Keep Shining
