BLUE WHISPER, now a 5 year old, was bred by our client under management from a young mare whom we had purchased on his behalf for 42,000 guineas. Things started well because her first foal made 68,000 guineas (later 200,000 guineas as a breezer) and became a winner in UK and Dubai. So when David muttered “let him go” on one of those late foal sales nights at Tattersalls with more people on the rostrum than in the sale ring, 22,000 guineas seemed disappointing but actual dosh for a smaller individual from a good man bidding.

Not much happened since then apart from his good name (BLUE WHISPER – Bated Breath-Vivid Blue) until today when as a 5 year old he followed up a 2nd with a win at Wolverhampton (1 mile) in the care of owner/trainer Sarah Humphreys ridden from more or less last to first on the line by one William Humphreys. There can be no claim to commercial success here, but the Humphreys will have had a good evening, and the little horse himself is no doubt in a good place. Whisper it loud.
