Three colts and a filly so far

The first of the Allan owned mares to produce in South Africa was the imported daughter of DARSHAAN, out of a HABITAT mare thus making her a rarity anywhere, MESSILA ROSE. Having been covered Southern Hemisphere time in Newmarket, the mare produced a bay filly by Juddmonte sire BEAT HOLLOW in quarantine at L’Ormarins before transferring to Arc En Ciel. MESSILA ROSE is half sister to a multiple Australian black type producer as well as triple SA winner SUNNYDALE. Her 2nd Dam has no less than eight Group 1 winners and placed under her and MESSILA ROSE herself is the dam of Listed placed (at Ascot) winner Sunley Peace. She visits ALADO on a particularly strong mating.

Next to foal down – at Hemel n Aarde – was the CORDOBA mare LA CAMPINA purchased at the Sibaya sale. She produced a chestnut colt by MODUS VIVENDI, a sire whose yearlings impressed Allan greatly. This mare goes to ALBERT HALL – again on a superb genetic match. The third to arrive, at the very end of September, was another chestnut colt – this time by MUHTAFAL. Another Sibaya purchase – this one especially to go to TIGER DANCE – the mare is JULIA’S CHOICE, a Gr.3 placed winner by JALLAD with a winner and a very promising maiden on the ground.Moving into October, Allan’s New Zealand bred CAPE CROSS mare FAIREST CAPE gave birth to her first foal, a bay colt by REQUIEM. A big mare and a big foal. FAIREST CAPE did not win when trained in KZN but is closely related to bang up to date Australasian black type. She visits MARTINELLI.Awaiting arrivals are the ARGOSY mare COUNT AGAIN, full sister to WAVES OF ARGOSYand half sister to the dam of HEIR APPARENT, in foal to LAKE CONISTON and due to visit NATIONAL EMBLEM, and the NATIONAL EMBLEM mare SELIKA, a winner in KZN when trained for Allan by Alistair Gordon now in foal to CAPTAIN AL and due to visit LAKE CONISTON.Barren import ELEGANT, dam of three UK winners, is by MARJU from the close family of CAPE CROSS, DIKTAT et al. Owned in partnership, she will visit NATIONAL EMBLEM.Fillies off the track to be covered are 3 times SA winning SHAHRASTANImare SUNNYDALE, bred and owned by Allan and trained by Vaughan Marshall. She is half sister to MESSILA ROSE (above), and Sir Michael Stoute trained winner RANDOM CALL, a WAR CHANT daughter of an Argentinian Group 1 winner. Both go to CAPTAIN AL.LIGHTUP THE WORLD, a young RAKEEN mare from the Equimark Mare Sale, unfortunately slipped but has been covered by TIGER DANCE and is tested in foal.
