With a record of 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 1st in four starts in South Africa, the David Allan owned filly SUNNYDALE has hardly been disappointing ! She was arguably unlucky not to win her second and especially her third start over 2400 metres but made sure today at Kenilworth. Astutely placed by trainer Vaughan Marshall and brought all the way back to 1800 metres, the SHAHRASTANI filly battled resolutely to repel challengers and win from the front by a neck. Connections felt that SUNNYDALE had done very well to win at this shorter trip and believe that she can improve again at distances between 2000 and 2400 metres.

SHAHRASTANI – winner of both the Epsom and Irish Derbies for the Aga Khan – is a youthful 23 years of age and stands at Walton Fields Stud in Leicestershire England in the ownership of Allan Bloodlines. This overseas success on the flat is a nice bonus.
