Further to the News Item dated 22nd June 2006, the AllanBloodlines purchased HALLANDALE followed up her 2,000 Guineas win at Almaty, Kazakhstan with victory in that country’s Oaks, run over 2,000 metres. She was followed home by her companions on the flight from England ZAMBACH (3rd) and FLYING KEY (4th), both being winners of major races earlier in the season.
HALLANDALE then ran in the Derby and was 2nd in a photo. PROPER LADY, an early season winner, was 3rd on Derby Day over 2,400 metres. The Champion’s Cup and the President’s Cup are on HALLANDALE’s agenda whilst ZAMBAH will return to sprinting and FLYING KEY has a Group race later this month.
After David Allan visited Kazakhstan at the invitation of Mr Maksat Akhaev, he was asked to select horses within a certain budget that could challenge for the best races. The results in 2005 made their owner the top owner in Kazakhstan and in 2006, the next wave of purchases has so far won the 1,000 Guineas, 2,000 Guineas and Oaks amongst other Group races, and finished 2nd in the Derby and 3rd and 4th in Oaks. Owner, trainer and selector are enjoying a serious purple patch in a fascinating racing environment.
