3 horses so far offered for partnership this year – all winners

The penny dropped with a significant clunk in mid race at Musselburgh this evening when FATHOM FIVE, purchased by AllanBloodlines at Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and managed under their HINTLESHAM RACING banner, got over his initial greenness in his first ever start and shot up the straight to win his maiden slightly eased by a neck. Described by commentators as “a terrific run”, this performance is encouraging owners and trainer Bryan Smart to consider lightning striking twice and emulating last year’s Royal Ascot success of TITUS ALONE who started in the same race.

That remains to be seen but at Musselburgh there could be no complaints about a win from the worst draw, having been “crossed” at the start and duly distracted, and having been flat-footed and “green” until Paul Eddery helped him to focus. FATHOM FIVE – one of a number of colts by first season sire FATH that attracted AllanBloodlines (bought two) – may well get 6 furlongs but for now, the right 5 furlong target will be sought reasonably soon.

AllanBloodlines has offered three horses in 2006 for partnership, always retaining a share themselves: 2 year old FATHOM FIVE (first time out winner, trainer Bryan Smart) and two others just as they were turning 3 namely BASKERVILLE (first and second time out winner) and CORTESIA (first time out winner), both with Peter Chapple-Hyam. All are owned by 2 – 4 partners.

The next 3 year old having remained in pre-training for a considerable time and just joined his Lambourn trainer Dominic ffrench Davis is on the website www.allanbloodlines.com and will be “ready” for ownership after a bit of faster work shortly. Also there are memberships available in the Racing Club HINTLESHAM THOROUGHBREDS which has two 3 year old fillies, one a winner last year trained by Giles Bravery and the other having made a very satisfactory debut at Newmarket last week, sent out by Chris Wall.
