FLYING STANDARD COMPLETES AN ADMIRABLE SEASON
Hintlesham Racing (UK)’s (flying) standard bearer, trained by Chris Wall in Newmarket, is a two times winner but not this season. Nevertheless he has given his shareholders an almost clockwork series of 9 appearances in the turf season April-October with an average of 3 weeks’ interval. In so doing he has finished 2nd no less than 5 times with another place, a shake-off-the-cobwebs run and two unplaced runs through no fault of his own.
Having changed the way we ride him mid season, helped by superstar rider Hollie Doyle confirming the system, he finished 2nd either because it was the first time we tried that way or because we ran out of long straights necessary to wind him up. This is an established 2 miler.
FLYING STANDARD has endeared himself to his shareholders who have voted to stay with him in 2022. As one of the most experienced and supportive put it “ ‘Stan’ is not a highly rated star like Ice Lord was but he is one of the best for taking us racing around the country very regularly and giving us a shout. Gorgeous big horse, twice a winner and definitely improving”.
“Stan” will be roughed off now and head for a complete familiar farm break for 6/7 weeks, rugged and very muddy, before returning to training in January for a return to the track in April.
