And a 2nd on the same card for another Allan team

The Allan Bloodlines racing club Hintlesham Thoroughbreds enjoyed its fourth win of the 2009 season when CWM RHONDDA won again at Yarmouth this afternoon.

Sent off the 11/10 favourite, this in form filly won comfortably by 1 1/2 lengths over what is clearly her best trip of 10 furlongs on Good to Firm ground. Having won over course and distance twice in May, CWM RHONDDA had found 12 furlongs too far, finishing 4th at Newmarket, but young rider Jack Mitchell settled nerves by squeezing through a gap, rattled nerves again by sitting tight having done so, then calmed onlookers when shaking up his mount to stride clear. The filly made light of her hefty 9st 10 lbs burden (after Jack’s claim of 3 lbs) and beat into 2nd place a 3 year old carrying 18 lbs less.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam is hopeful that the filly can improve again, perhaps taking her tally of wins beyond three to join the growing number of Allan Bloodlines five and six times winners.

Half an hour earlier BOMBER BROWN a 3 year old bay colt (also with Peter Chapple-Hyam) by MR PROSPECTOR horse PYRUS managed a strong 2nd place in a maiden, a long way ahead of the 3rd. Neil Callan said that he is sure that the colt will win over this 10 furlong trip or longer because he was still running very green. BOMBER BROWN is the nickname of West Bromwich Albion’s all-time favourite player. This and the colours he carries reflect Chapple-Hyam’s and David Allan’s lifelong support for that team.
