ICE LORD MAKES A PLEASING SEASONAL BOW

May 6, 2018

Only 3 lengths adrift, needing the race, on 1,000 Guineas Day

ICE LORD made his seasonal bow at Newmarket in a $50,000 handicap over 6 furlongs on Sunday.

Still hairy after the snows, he was always going to need the run and could simultaneously take his shareholders racing on 1,000 Guineas Day on his local track that the son of Verglas really enjoys.

Hollie Doyle, who won on him at Ascot last year, rode him to instructions, battling a little with him early on as he was so fresh but settling (mostly) before running on well balanced to finish only 3 1/4 lengths behind the 109 rated winner.

Trainer Chris Wall has ICE LORD nicely set up for his campaign now, helped by turn out in the sunshine for the early part of this week.
