ICE LORD PUTS ON A GREAT SHOW AT NEWMARKET

Sep 29, 2017

Second to a Group-class horse, beating the other sixteen

ICE LORD gave Hintlesham Racing UK partners a day to remember today, following up on his 3rd and 1st places at top racecourses Newmarket and Ascot. Trainer Chris Wall has him in a rich vein of form.

Back at Newmarket, down the road from his home, ICE LORD lined up in an 18 runner 7 furlong handicap on Cambridgeshire Day.

Fran Berry, reunited, cleverly missed the break on purpose to make sure our fellow had something to chase. This he did, tracking the eventual winner MAKZEEM through on the nearside.

Sweeping past the entire field except that winner, the grey stayed every inch of 7 furlongs to finish very powerfully. As a result of those performances, MAKZEEM and ICE LORD were rerated such that MAKZEEM is 12 lbs superior, but only giving 5 on the day.

With generous cooperation from the racecourse, HINTLESHAM RACING partners were acommodated all afternoon in The Royal Box from which we were able to watch not only the 35 runner Cambridgeshire Cavalry Charge, but also the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes for 2 year old colts and fillies respectively.

Our racehorses take us to great places for Great Days Out!

We’ll probably try him at a mile before giving him a well-earned winter break.
