Bodes well for the coming summer in Durban

IMPERIAL DICE finished 2nd in a good race thisa fternoon at Clairwood after 107 days break from racing – partly to allow him to mature through the local winter and partly in the hope of just a little bit of rain.

Sent out in great condition by trainer Alistair Gordon, the PARADE LEADER gelding was described by rider Stuart Randolph as giving him an even better feel than last season.  In a race for winners of one, he settled well after pulling early on, moved up nicely in the straight and was only beaten home by the classy SMART AL who has run in August and September and was settled well by rider Andrew Fortune.

IMPERIAL DICE probably needed the race and found the ground a bit quick for him but this bodes well for the summer season of racing in Durban.
