Storming finish thwarted by traffic
IMPERIAL DICE, having won his first race at Borrowdale in the colours of HINTLESHAM RACING with partners, competed for the US$40,000 Gr.2 OK Grand Challenge over 1800 metres on 4th June in front of a 25,000 crowd.
4th in the betting, that was where he finished catching the leaders with every stride. He had traffic problems coming from off the pace and would certainly have been 2nd but would not have caught the winner GRISHAMwho was following up his raiding win in the “Tankard” two weeks previously, an even more valuable race.
The third in the series is The Republic, 2000 metres, and “Figgy” Figueroa who had flown up from Johannesburg to ride IMPERIAL DICE, has asked to be reunited.
