Stakes winning purchase by Allan Bloodlines

The nearly white 3 year old colt GOLDEN IVORY carrying the blue and white colours of Lindsay Ralphs and partners prevailed in a tight finish of three short heads today to take the Gr.2 Diadem Stakes at Kenilworth in Cape Town.

Trained by Vaughan Marshall, the grey had been knocked down to Allan Bloodlines at the National Yearlings Sales in 2005 for a price equivalent today to approximately £12,000, a sum that he has more than recouped in prize money to date. “The market was stronger in 2006,” commented David Allan “and we signed for colts up to £70-80,000 but a nice horse like Golden Ivory could still be purchased for considerably less than £20,000 and fun horses from the “Ready to Run” sales in January need only cost £7-12,000”.

Allan Bloodlines’ next purchasing venture is in the Cape later in January.
