Allan/Marshall team very active

When the Emperor’s Palace National Yearling Sales drew to a close last evening at Bloodstock South Africa’s Germiston complex, there was general satisfaction with a 5% increase in average and a clearance rate of just over 80% plus a new record price of R 4,000,000.

The Vaughan Marshall and Allan Bloodlines team were hard at work, eventually purchasing twelve yearlings at a total cost of R 3.57 million for long term clients in South Africa.  The jewel may be the R 1.2 million Jet Master half brother to top Marshall-trained filly SECRETS OF VICTORIA but the team was pleased with purchases from a tenth of that price all the way up the range including fillies by WESTERN WINTER (R 500,000) and VAR (R 175,000).

“The quality of the yearlings on offer compensated for the frustration of trying to fly here for four days and then catch up in uncharacteristically awful weather” commented David Allan. “But Vaughan did a huge amount of work and we hope to keep up our 80% winner record for our clients”.

The weather had indeed hindered yearling inspections on Friday and Saturday as well as bringing about extended power cuts, all making the stoicism of participants and the healthy figures all the more remarkable.
