News of the S.Africa Stud Farm and Stallions

When a stud establishes or re-establishes itself, there is only one formula. Get the foundations right, get your head down, work hard, consolidate. At Oaklands, Paul and Emma Timms have done just that and have clearly “come up for air” in recent months as their operation increases in scope.

The permanent client-owned boarding mare population is rising towards 75. This does not include the Oaklands owned mares, 42 of which are going to TIGER DANCE. Whilst there is of course an emphasis on supporting the Oaklands stallions, more mares from Oaklands Estate will visit other stallions than before. Oaklands Interactive!

Over 60 yearlings from Oaklands are destined for the next round of sales, and in a happy coincidence during the drafting of this Press Release, NINETTE DE VALOIS, trained by Mike de Kock and a R 750,000 purchase from Oaklands at the Nationals, has just bolted up on debut at Clairwood in the colours of Mrs Oppenheimer.

SECOND EMPIRE does not have many runners in South Africa yet, but SILVER EMPIRE ran into a Gr.1 place on July Day by finishing 3rd in the Garden Province Stakes, beaten less than 2½ lengths having been left more than twice that distance at the start. This Listed winning filly is of mixed Australian and Zimbabwean lineage and is an excellent advert for using SECOND EMPIRE, the Fairy King Gr.1 winning Champion 2 Year Old from the brilliant FLAME OF TARA / SALSABIL / MARJU family, very close-up.

At R 25,000, there is not much trade in him, but you could catch us at a weak moment…… Why not much trade? Because he is a proven sire of a very good number of Black Type Winners in Australia, Hong Kong and Europe; because he is a very good looking horse; and because he is bred as he is.

ALADO is not a speculative purchase. He is a stallion here to be “made”, all going well, by his owner breeder. Kirsten Rausing, owner of Lanwades Stud (UK) and Staffordstown Stud (Ireland) is one of Europe’s most prominent owner/breeders, as well as standing Champion Sire Selkirk along with several others. Kirsten has developed one of the strongest families in the Stud Book through her beloved Champion racemares ALBANOVA and ALBORADA, daughters by excellent broodmare sire ALZAO of the DARSHAAN Stakes Winner ALOUETTE.

ALBORADA, winner of the Dubai Champion Stakes Gr.1 at Newmarket – twice – plus the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and Pretty Polly at The Curragh, both Gr.2 is the dam of ALADO who is a direct son of DANZIG. And we know what that can mean.

ALADO is equally “part of the Lanwades family” and Oaklands was mighty pleased to be asked to stand him. Kirsten Rausing has ten mares at Oaklands to support ALADO, so it seems to all of us that breeding to him with Ms Rausing and Oaklands is as good a low cost “punt” as one could wish for.

Allan Bloodlines is able to offer a very special ALADO deal to breeders supporting TIGER DANCE and/or SECOND EMPIRE. Or MEDAALY whose recent good results from his days in France would merit a separate NewsMemo. Please just ask.

The dam of NINETTE DE VALOIS, the exciting 2yo filly who won today at Clairwood, visits TIGER DANCE. We circulated the news of his and Giant’s CAUSEWAY’s full sister YOU’RESOTHRILLING’s latest win last week and she now sits well on top of the 2yo filly of the year lists in the Cartier European awards. With Syndicate Agreements on their way to new TIGER DANCE shareholders now that strongly negotiated insurances have been placed, we are seeing more interest in individual or double nominations. The remaining shares cost R 130,000 + VAT (2 noms 1st season, thereafter take a year by year view) and nominations are at R 35,000 (10+25) + VAT.

The Oaklands Stallion Parade and Party at Durbanville, held jointly with Arc En Ciel, was part of the “coming up for air” process, and TIGER DANCE can be seen again at the Highlands Stallion Day on 28th July.ALLAN BLOODLINESJoanne on 083 399 6353joanneknowles@allanbloodlines.com davidallan@allanbloodlines.com
