CAPE YEARLING SALE – LOTS TO BID FOR: SPORTING POST
One of South Africa’s best value for money thoroughbred auctions, the Bloodstock South Africa Cape Yearling Sale has produced a string of top prospects over the years, including multiple Gr1 winner Surcharge, who would go on to win at the highest level in Australia.
The popular regional sale will be held at Mistico outside Paarl on Sunday 28 February from 12h30.

Past graduates of this sale include Drakenstein Stud’s promising young sire Gold Standard, coincidentally represented by five lots on the catalogue, and fellow graded stakes winners Doosra, Elusive Heart, Final Judgement, Green Pepper, Hack Green, Princess Peach.
In total, 181 horses are catalogued for this sale, with the majority of the Cape’s top farms represented.
Successful sires represented include Count Dubois, Duke Of Marmalade, Elusive Fort, Flower Alley, Gimmethegreenlight, Ideal World, Judpot, Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, Pathfork, Philanthropist, Pomodoro, Querari, Silvano, Trippi, Twice Over, Vercingetorix, Visionaire and What A Winter.
There is also an exciting list of stallions with their first local yearlings on offer, including Canford Cliffs, Erupt, Gold Standard and Royal Mo.
Qualifying graduates of this sale could feature in the linked 2022 Cape Yearling Sale Cup, which has already been underwritten by Bloodstock South Africa for a minimum stake of R500 000, of which the winning breeder will bank R100 000.
