Pay When You Sell – Sporting Post: 6 June 2019
Allan Bloodlines innovative ‘Pay When You Sell’ terms remove a potentially difficult cash flow burden from breeders. Two stallions available under the very favourable and customer friendly package are Alado (GB) and Linngari (IRE).
The latter was a Champion in Europe in three separate years and won two Gr1’s amongst 6 total Stakes wins from 1200 to 2000 metres.
His sire Indian Ridge was a flagship stallion at The Irish National Stud for many years, siring 10 Group/Grade 1 winners including two Breeders’ Cup Mile Winners and a July Cup Winner. Indian Ridge also became a top class broodmare sire, most recently of Lancaster Bomber, a Gr1 winner now at stud here.
“We are very pleased to become involved with a KZN stallion with which we can immediately relate as a top class Aga Khan bred European Gr1 winner with speed and Indian Ridge heritage,” said David Allan. “In the current market, stallion people need to find ways of helping breeders and we think we have something to offer by rebalancing the cash flow equation”.
“Paying stallion fees 16-18 months before selling is increasingly difficult and a decline in the NYS median is what defines the market for the majority,” he continued. “With our PAY WHEN YOU SELL option, we take away that cash flow burden and shoulder the resultant delayed stallion and management earnings”.
Of course the idea at the same time is to attract more mares.
Allan adds “Yes that’s the plan! But it doesn’t alter the contribution and we must ask: With a world class horse, an intentionally low fee with our Scales of Fees taking it even lower, Pay When You Sell and the need to keep operating until better times in the next couple of years, why wouldn’t you use Linngari?”
Alado is a career Winners/Runners approximately 50% sire, having been as high as nearly 70% on small crops and surely heading back that way.
His recent winners include an 8.5 lengths winning juvenile bred in The Alado Project, a 3 times winner bred by Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud and Rocket Countdown, a Gr2 winner (and a blinder in last year’s July behind Do It Again) bred by Oldlands Stud.
