Another bumper winner for the old champion
SHAHRASTANI, surely the best and probably only son of NIJINSKY available in these islands, has a good number of National Hunt runners in his “post-Japan” era in this country. A proven sire of Group winners on the flat and NH winners that have sold spectacularly, the old champion’s name reappears regularly in entries – more in bumpers graduating to hurdling than in Point to Pointing.
Yesterday at Kilbeggan, Clonsilla Affairs, a 6yo SHAHRASTANI gelding left them all standing in a bumper, scoring by no less than 20 lengths.
Winner of both the Epsom and Irish Derbies, and close 4th in the famous DANCING BRAVE ARC after illness, SHAHRASTANI is both an AllanBloodlines cherished icon, and a very fertile and youthful stallion. It is no surprise that he is the damsire of several recent Group 1 winners both here and in the USA. He stands at Walton Fields.
