But a very good story even so

This morning at the Boulta (West Waterford) Point to Point, David Allan was on hand to see his first every Point to Point runner.

SHAHBASH is a 4 year old son of Allan Stallion SHAHRASTANI out of a SHERNAZAR mare, bred by Allan and brought up largely at Danni and Stephen O’Neill’s Fawley House Stud. Somehow he has just stuck around and become a favourite, but reality met him head on today when he competed for the first time at anything, prepared by Conna trainer Sean Aherne who was introduced to Allan by Tim Beecher of showjumping fame.

Starting 2nd favourite after a sparkling piece of work the week before, SHAHBASH travelled well throughout and jumped immaculately. Immaculately, that is, until overhauling the leader and favourite at the last en route seemingly to an exciting debut win, but taking the fence too low and taking a fall at the last – fortunately, a soft fall.

Nevertheless, this fellow looks to be a nice prospect.
