SUCCESSFUL HINTLESHAM MORNING ON THE HEATH

Aug 5, 2019

On Saturday 3rd morning, both ICE LORD and FLYING STANDARD put in very good pieces of work on the Watered Gallop, parallel to the Rowley Mile.

Having dealt with a little niggle successfully, ICE LORD did his third comeback piece of fast work, tracking a winner over the 5.5 furlong working trip until given the office.

The popular 5 times winning grey strode clear by several lengths. He is entered to run on Friday evening in a race he won last year at Newmarket.

He may be a touch ring rusty but has run well fresh, including earlier this season 4th first time out and worth 2nd.

A few minutes later, the 2 year old STARSPANGLEDBANNER colt FLYING STANDARD returned to half speed work after a growing spell. Following an older lead horse with another companion behind, both drew up alongside with FLYING STANDARD in the sandwich.

After a brief spell of wondering what this is all about, our Hintlesham partnership fellow got the point, stuck his neck out and ran arrow straight a shade ahead of his companions but going intentionally steady.

This first real piece of fast work will be followed by a few others as we approach his debut – not long now.
