Allan stalwarts fly the flag

This afternoon at Clairwood, the impressively made mare SUNNYDALE justified owner David Allan’s decision not to retire her after two wins and four places. Having been “looked after” on ground that turned out to be so firm at Scottsdale as to generate protests, she rocketed back over 1900 metres to win at Clairwood fighting extremely bravely in a nip and tuck finish. SUNNYDALE should be better when back to 2000-2400 metres and trainer Vaughan Marshall has a black type target at 2400.

New Allan Bloodlines racing club STRAIGHT BAT RACING had a big shout at Kenilworth yesterday when old favourite NINETY DEGREES was only grabbed close home in a big field to finish a good 2nd. 1200 metres and easy ground is what he needs and he got it. He has won twice in those conditions and surely has a crack at another win shortly.
