He and Abi Walters finish in the top third in a very strong section

Hugs all round for connections of David Allan’s 14 year old ex racehorse TONIGHT’S PRIZE as he successfully completed in fine style the cross-country in his first Advanced Event at Aston Le Walls late this afternoon. It has taken seven years since he retired from racing (3 wins/11 places) for this Bernice Cuthbert trained talisman to make it all the way through the ranks to Advanced, but a 13th place finish in a 42 strong field including top class eventers was highly respectable. Abi Walters who has added much to his development rode him smoothly and superbly.

A real furrowed-brow trier in the mystery world of dressage and a proficient showjumper as befits an Allan competitor, TP’s strength is his obvious love of cross-country. Quite capable in past years of deciding that certain manufactured narrow obstacles had more attractive open space either side, the son of Night Shift concentrates hard these days in response to Abi’s subtle reminders. This was a very fine first Advanced effort.
